Members of the Center for Language and Brain took part at the conference "Cognitive Science in Moscow: New Research"
Employees of the Center for Language and Brain presented their studies at the conference "Cognitive Science in Moscow: New Research". Director of the Center Olga Dragoy spoke at the round table "Undoubted Achievements of Cognitive Science in the 21st Century", where she talked about the successes of neuroscience.
The 7th “Cognitive Science in Moscow: New Research” conference was held on 21–22 June 2023. The conference was conducted by The Russian Journal of Cognitive Science with support of the Department of Life Sciences of the Moscow Institute of Psychoanalysis, and the Scientific Research Institute of Neuropsychology of Speech and Writing. It featured a variety of poster presentations on animal and human research.
Researchers of the HSE Center for Language and Brain took an active part in this conference. In particular, posters dedicated to aphasia were presented: Olga Soloukhina, in collaboration with colleagues, spoke about the perception and production of nouns and verbs in aphasia, and Georgy Gorshkov spoke about serious games for rehabilitation of speech in patients with aphasia. In addition, works devoted to eye movement patterns were presented. Vladislava Staroverova and Nina Zdorova with colleagues presented a poster “Global sentence reading patterns in Russian-speaking children and adults”, and the poster of Olga Tuzhik under the supervision of Nina Zdorova was devoted to the characteristics of eye movements when reading in Adyghe-Russian bilinguals. Svetlana Dorofeeva and Yana Kokoreva presented a new linguistically balanced test developed at the Center for assessing reading skills in Russian-speaking adults, and Vasilisa Stepanova, in collaboration with colleagues, presented the Color Trail Test. In addition, Valeriia Lelik, Tatyana Eremicheva and Daria Morozova, together with coauthors – students of the experimental track of the HSE program in Fundamental and Applied Linguistics – presented a poster about the errors of the MyStem morphological analyzer when working with recordings of children's speech. Maria Dyachkova with colleagues presented the poster “Development and Approbation of the Index of Productive Syntax in the Noun Phrases Acquisition by Russian-speaking Children”. Finally, neuroimaging studies were presented - Maria Protopova under the supervision of Olga Dragoy made a presentation on language lateralization during sentence completion task, and Ekaterina Shcheglova under the supervision of Tatyana Bolgina presented a poster on resting state functional connectivity in children with dyslexia.
