The Center for Language and Brain at the HSE University (Moscow, Russia) invites you to join us in Moscow, Russia, for our tenth annual Summer Neurolinguistics School. Due to the unforseen circumstances in the country, the event was postponed and will take place OFFLINE on 18-20 September 2023, but there will be an online poster session too.
This year, the topic is Eye-tracking in the lab and beyond. The school will be devoted to the eye-tracking studies of language and speech across languages and populations. Importantly, we embrace a diversity in research topics from fundamental to practice-oriented ones. They may include language processing and reading in children and adults, eye-tracking studies in clinical populations, language learning, business, UX/UI, etc.
Our confirmed invited lecturers are :
Irina Sekerina, PhD, City University of New York, USA
Anastasiya Lopukhina, PhD, Royal Holloway, University of London, UK
Svetlana Alexeeva, PhD, Saint-Petersburg State University, Russia
Soroosh Shalileh, PhD, HSE University, Russia
Anna Laurinavichyute, PhD, University of Potsdam, Germany
Elena Gorbunova, PhD, HSE University, Russia
The school will also feature contributed oral presentations and poster sessions.
What to expect?
The school is meant both as an educational event for students entering the field and as an environment where more advanced researchers and practitioners can discuss the latest ideas and achievements in the field. To gain an impression, please see our previous schools. This year, we specifically aim to connect two fields: theory and practice. So, let us discuss eye-tracking research in the lab and how to use its results in real life!
The school program will include the following :
- Invited talks by renowned experts in eye-tracking, presenting state-of-the-art eye-tracking research on language and speech across languages and populations.
- Contributed oral presentations and poster sessions.
- An in-person workshop on Eye Movement Modeling Examples (EMME) paradigm held by the research group from the Centre for Cognition & Decision Making.
- Interactive activities with cutting-edge eye-tracking technology by the Neuroiconica Lab.
Who should be interested?
The program will be of interest to professionals and students in the fields of Linguistics (both experimental and theoretical), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Education, Data Science, Marketing, Advertising, Product Design, and other related fields. The lectures will provide relevant content both for students who are just entering the field (though we assume they are familiar with some foundations of eye tracking) and for advanced researchers.
