Natalia Samutina Participates in Theme Park Conference in Mainz

International Interdisciplinary Conference ‘Time and Temporality in Theme Parks’  was organized at Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany) on September 18-20. The conference consisted of several panels focused on a wide range of topics: theme parks in the U.S., theme park theory, urbanism in American imagery, and more.

Natalia Samutina, Head of the Research Centre for Contemporary Culture, HSE, participated in the Conference ‘Time and Temporality in Theme Parks’ with  presentation which was focused on the impact that imagery and the organisation of space at theme parks have on renovated space of the Museum-reserve Tsaritsyno in Moscow.

New functions and imagery connected to the theme parks' influence affect the temporality of the Tsaritsyno park and turn this multi-temporal space into the ‘theme park of the 18th century.’
