HSE Extreme Sports Club Invites Students and Staff to Krasnaya Polyana
This is the second time the HSE Extreme Sports Club has organized a trip to Krasnaya Polyana in the month of February. This time, the trip will take place on February 5-12, 2017. Everyone who likes mountains and wants to spend a week in great company is welcome to take part. This year, the participants will be staying close to the ski lifts, which means that they will be the first to ski on fresh snow slopes.
The trip includes:
- 7 days at the best ski resort in Russia;
- daily skiing on prepared tracks and freeriding;
- a swimsuit photo-shoot at 2,320 meters above sea level;
- training for beginners and freeriding for advanced riders;
- screenings of cult films about extreme sports;
- daily parties;
- fun and active travel companions.
Let’s recall last year’s trip, so that it can be easier for you to make a decision to join us!
The mountain cluster of Krasnaya Polyana comprises three ski resorts: Gornaya Karusel, Rosa Khutor, and Gazprom-Alpika-Service. The club members initially decided to try skiing at the most popular resort - Roza Khutor.
Everyone liked the service. The slopes were perfectly prepared, and there were signposts and mesh in the required zones. There was staff in certain areas who provided directions on where it was safe to ski. Our group also featured a diverse band of participants - from beginners, who never tried snowboarding, to professional riders specializing in slalom. Nonetheless, everyone managed to find a suitable track, as there are 94 km of slopes with different levels of difficulty. Advanced riders explored the area and found corridors and fields with perfectly fresh snow for freeriding.
In addition to Rosa Khutor, participants rode the Gornaya Karusel and Gazprom slopes. Opinions on these slopes were split — advanced free riders preferred the slopes of Gornaya Karusel. They agreed that riding on Gornaya Karusel was comparable to any interesting freeride route at Rosa Khutor. At the same time, newcomers were enthusiastic about Gazprom.
It is worth noting that our beginners deserve some special attention. With just a few days under the supervision of instructors from the club, they learnt to snowboard and get a feel of the slope, even when many people fail to do so after several years of riding. Furthermore, some brave souls even managed to ride down Rosa Peak (2320 meters) on their snowboards.
