Results of the 'I Draw HSE' Competition

Up the Study Ladder (2nd place), by Ulyana Savelieva, 9

The results of the children’s drawing competition ‘I Draw HSE’ have been announced. It was held in two age cohorts, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. The competition aimed to give children whose families are connected to HSE an idea of what the university is.

The finalists were chosen in an online vote (second stage of the competition).

Winners in the first age cohort:

  • Wise Crow (winner), by Daria Batalova, 7, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra, Uray;
  • Up the Study Ladder (2nd place), by Ulyana Savelieva, 9, Dubna;
  • Law Rules! (3rd place), by Alevtina Erokhina, 9, Moscow.

Winners in the second age cohort:

  • Universal University (winner), by Daria Kovalenko, 11, Moscow;
  • Masters of the Universe (2nd place), by Inga Arkhipova, 12, Kazan;
  • No name (3rd place), by Marta Markova, 10, Moscow.

Hari the Robot Recommends

We created Hari the robot and named him after Hari Seldon, a character who can predict the future in the works of science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. He is based on a machine-learning model that selects news based on the behavioural metrics of HSE website users.

International Partners' Week Starts at HSE University–St Petersburg

HSE University–St Petersburg has launched International Partners' Week, which brings together more than 100 representatives of leading global universities. The grand opening ceremony took place on May 20 in the new HSE building on Vasilievsky Island.

HSE Scholars Elected to Russian Academy of Sciences

On May 30, 2025, a general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) announced the results of the elections for its full and corresponding members. Around 1,800 individuals took part in the voting. Among those elected this year are scholars from HSE University.

University Representatives from Six Countries Agree to Create International Research Network

Universities from Russia, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Indonesia are creating an international research network. The signing of the Manifesto of the Consortium of Satellite Laboratories for Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability took place in the framework of the International Partners' Week at HSE University-St Petersburg.

Forbes University Ranking: HSE Has Top Reputation among Employers

On May 22, Forbes Education released its updated ranking of the 100 best universities in Russia for 2025. HSE University retained its second-place position, having established itself as the university with the highest employer reputation. Among the top 20 were 12 universities from Moscow, three from St Petersburg, two from Tatarstan, and one each from the Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, and Tomsk regions.

'Fashion Forward': HSE University-St Petersburg Holds Fashion Show of Young Designers

During the International Partners' Week, the Rope Shop building hosted the fashion show of the graduates of the School of Art and Design—master's track 'Creating a Fashion Brand' and bachelor's programme 'Fashion Design'—under the supervision of Leonid Alekseev, curator and founder of the brand 'House of Leo'.
