How to Switch Programmes at HSE

If you are an HSE student and interested in transferring to another programme (or HSE regional campus), December is one of the two best months of the year to do that.

There are usually two periods during the year for HSE students to change from one programme to another - June and December. In addition, each HSE programme may introduce its own transition procedure and specify another period for transfers.

First-year undergraduate students at HSE cannot transfer before the second module exam period. No such restrictions are in place for HSE Master’s students.

Before applying for transfer, please visit the website of your educational programme and check the information on the availability and number of vacant slots, the terms for submitting an application and review, competition rules; entrance exams and criteria, etc. Please note that there are certain restrictions for students on Russian government full-tuition scholarships (i.e., ‘quotas’). More information about transfers for quota students is available here.

An application with all necessary supporting documents should be directly submitted to the study office of the HSE programme where you wish to transfer.

The online transfer application service is not open for HSE students (it is only used for prospective transfer students from other academic institutions).
