Applicants for the Master’s programme ‘Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems’ to Receive Grants from Rightech

Alexey Rolich, Expert at the Laboratory of the Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems, and Evgenii Krouk, Director of MIEM HSE

MIEM HSE and Rightech have signed an agreement outlining the company’s involvement in HSE’s new master’s programme ‘Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems’. Rightech will allocate grants to the five top applicants to go towards their studies.

Rightech, a Russian developer of high-tech business solutions using the Internet of Things (IoT), is one of the main partners in the Master's programme ‘Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems’ offered at MIEM HSE. Specialists at the company will teach a number of courses in the master's programme as well as hold seminars and supervise laboratory work of students. The work will involve the use of Rightech IoT Cloud hardware and software.

The company's leading employees will act as academic supervisors and business mentors and, together with the students, they will implement company projects. The programme focuses on practical applications, allowing students to develop their own innovative projects and start-ups in the field of the Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems. This work will then go towards their degrees.

The quality of teaching at HSE and the relevance of this field on the labour market attracted several sponsors, including Rightech. The Russian developer is ready to finance 5 places for the top applicants in the master's programme with a guarantee of employment at Rightech following graduation.

‘There is a high demand for graduates of this programme because the use of IoT solutions is beneficial to almost all medium and large businesses across all industries. As soon as IoT appears at one company on the market, all its competitors will want to introduce the same technology. Currently, there are only a couple of hundred qualified specialists on the international market, only a couple of hundred in Russia, and not all IOT developers are good at what they do’, explains Iliya Bykonya, founder and CEO of Rightech. ‘MIEM HSE is an excellent technical university with outstanding teachers, providing the best conditions for education and professional development. The HSE also has strong ties internationally with numerous companies, giving students many opportunities to obtain practical experience.’

Hari the Robot Recommends

We created Hari the robot and named him after Hari Seldon, a character who can predict the future in the works of science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. He is based on a machine-learning model that selects news based on the behavioural metrics of HSE website users.
