Professor from HSE School of Business Informatics Presents Innovations at Forum in Skolkovo
The 7th Moscow International Forum ‘Open Innovations.’ which took place from October 15 – 17 in Skolkovo, included an exhibition on the results of research carried out by academic institutions, small enterprises and leading universities, including HSE.
Yevgeni Koucheryavy, Professor at the HSE School of Business Informatics, gave two presentations: ‘5G Technology and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Demonstrator’ and ‘Industrial Internet of Things and Big Data in Smart Power Industry Demonstrator’ at the event.
The first project, ‘5G Technology and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Demonstrator,’ concerns data transmission-coordinating software and hardware package. It can operate two and more channels simultaneously, relying on 5G and IIoT wireless technologies.
This can be applied, for example, in medicine. For instance, when ambulance is going down the street, there are sometimes situations when doctors need to urgently transmit medical information via communication channels. The information must be transmitted as precisely as possible, without any interference. WIth existing channels, such interference is quite common.
’s project will provide precise and timely data transmission. The second project, ‘Industrial Internet of Things and Big Data in Smart Power Industry Demonstrator,’ is also a software and hardware package, which helps to cut down maintenance costs for batteries used on locomotives and electric lift trucks.
Today, specially trained staff and devices are needed to check the service life of batteries. In fact, batteries are checked quite rarely. Thanks to this project, it will be possible to equip batteries with indicators, which regularly transmit information on their condition to cloud databases, as well as predict their life span. Long-distance checks of industrial machines or other complex devices can be organized the same way.
The workshop ‘Developing Processing Systems for Big Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence’ took place as part of the Open Innovations Forum. Prof.
