New List of Members of the RF Public Chamber
On September 28th 2011, Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, signed an executive order ‘Approval of the list of members of the Public chamber of the Russian Federation’. As part of this, Yaroslav Kuzminov, Rector of the Higher School of Economics, became a member of the public chamber.
Other members of the Public chamber in 2012 will be Evgeniy Velikhov, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Mikhail Blinkin, Academic Supervisor of the non-commercial partnership ‘Research Institute of Transport and Road Infrastructure’, Nikolay Svanidze, Head of the Department of Mass Media at the Russian State University for the Humanities and other national public figures.
According to the law, the work of the RF Public Chamber is aimed at bringing together citizens, public unions, governmental and local bodies in order to solve the most important problems of economic and social development, the provision of national security, and the development of civil society in Russia. The Chamber carries out public scrutiny of socially important drafts of federal and local laws.
