Annual Report of Rediscovering Russia Student Expedition Project for 2022 Published
The team of HSE University’s Rediscovering Russia project, with the support of the presidential platform Russia—Land of Opportunity and the More Than a Trip programme, has published an annual report on the results of the 2022 season in the format of a book. The publication includes key results, travel geography, project development plans, and much more.
The book contains detailed statistics and a description of the project geography, the history of its origin, plans for the future, and a list of participants and partners, as well as a description of missions, expedition work, and the results of the top expeditions in five areas: education, culture, social development, regional tourist appeal, and research. The project team intends for the collection to serve not only as a book of memoirs by the 2022-season participants, but also as an assistant in planning expeditions for anyone who wants to join the project.
Nikita Anisimov
‘We launched the Rediscovering Russia project in 2017 as an accelerator for internal university expeditions. In 2022, the project expanded to a federal scale, entering the Russia—Land of Opportunity presidential platform. I am sure that the 2023 expedition season, which is already underway, will bring equally high-quality results for both the participants and our partners,’ said HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov.
In 2022, more than 100 expeditions took place as part of the project. In total, 10,680 individual and group applications for participation were submitted. The top three universities by the number of participants were HSE University, Far Eastern Federal University, and Moscow Power Engineering Institute. The most popular regions were Kaluga Oblast, the Republic of Dagestan, and Kamchatka Krai.
Aleksei Agafonov
‘Thanks to the Rediscovering Russia project, many talented young people from all over the country get an opportunity for professional self-realisation as early as in their student years. The annual report of the project for 2022 clearly demonstrates the expeditions' results and products that are already being used in many regions, and I am sure that this is just the beginning,’ said Aleksei Agafonov, First Deputy Director General of ANO Russia—Land of Opportunity.
Ivan Shulyupin
‘Trips within the Rediscovering Russia programme are the type of travel that meets the needs of modern youth. In addition to getting to know their country, students also have many opportunities for self-realisation, development, and being part of the nation’s history. In response to the needs of young people, this year, we and our partners will further develop the project by expanding the tourist offering, the geographic scope of trips, and other things,’ said Ivan Shulyupin, Director General of ANO More Than a Trip.
The book was made by HSE University’s team for the Rediscovering Russia project with support from the HSE Art and Design School.
