Alexander Shokhin Awarded Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st Class
On December 12, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented state awards to outstanding citizens of Russia at the Kremlin. Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and President of HSE University, was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st Class.
The award ceremony took place in the St Catherine Hall of the Kremlin, where President Putin honoured representatives of public and religious organisations, state officials, journalists, teachers, mentors, renowned artists, composers, healthcare workers, and professionals from industry and agriculture with state awards, including orders, medals, and honorary titles. Among them, Alexander Shokhin received the prestigious Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st Class, in recognition of his contributions as the president of the RSPP and HSE University.
Opening the ceremony, Vladimir Putin congratulated all citizens on Constitution Day and highlighted the achievements and contributions of the award recipients to Russia's development. ‘Dear friends, our country lives, works and grows, with your professional and creative achievements promoting this growth and changing life for the better. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you every success and new achievements. I congratulate you on your high state awards,’ said the Russian head of state.
Alexander Shokhin said that he considers the award to be recognition of the valuable contributions of Russian businesses and employers to the national cause and victory.
‘Despite unprecedented pressure, sanctions, and restrictions, we see that the economy demonstrates steady growth. This is undoubtedly thanks to Russian entrepreneurs. Equally important is the effective dialogue between businesses and the government, organised under your leadership, Mr President. This dialogue enables us not only to respond to challenges but also to advance. Specifically, this includes technological leadership projects and the socially responsible behaviour of Russian companies, which remains evident even in these challenging times,’ Alexander Shokhin noted.
The HSE President expressed hope that in the future, ‘we will also, through our dialogue with lawmakers, the government, and personally with you, Mr President, overcome all challenges and obstacles and achieve victory together.’
HSE University would like to congratulate Alexander Shokhin on this prestigious state award!
