12 Master's Programmes You Didn't Expect to Find at the HSE

The Higher School of Economics, in keeping with its name, has long been a university where people study subjects well outside the realm of economics and the social sciences. One can understand how broad the spectrum of educational programmes is by looking at the HSE’s graduate school, where it is possible to learn how to work in the most diverse areas – from the nano-industry to art auctions.

Master in Comparative Social Research Open Day

On June 16, 2014, the International Master in Comparative Social Research Open Day will be held at the HSE. The event is organized by the HSE Faculty of Sociology in Moscow and St. Petersburg together with the Laboratory of Comparative Social Research.

Our New Master’s Programme Will Help You Become a Specialist in Cognitive Psychology and Neurobiology

From June 1 to August 15 the HSE will be accepting applications from Russian citizens for the English language Master’s programme ‘Cognitive sciences: from neurons to cognition’ (international students can file applications at any time until July 15). A competition for funded places is open to students with a wide variety of specialisations and will be judged on their portfolios.

Double Degree Programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy: The Long Road to Success

The HSE Public Policy Department and the University of Bologna are launching a double degree master’s programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy. Nina Belyaeva, Head of the HSE Department of Public Policy gave an interview to the HSE news service about future challenges and her hopes and expectations for the programme.

On April 8th  the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge held an Open Day for the Master’s programme 'Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation'. The prospective students met the programme’s administrators, their future teachers, and possible employers: the presentation was attended by prominent members of the business community and government agencies.

New Master’s Programme in Sociology for Aspiring Young Researchers

A new English-taught master’s programme at the HSE, ‘International Master in Comparative Social Research’, will allow students to acquire the knowledge and skills that are in demand on the global market for social research. Applications are due by May 31, 2014.

New English-language Master's Programme in Big Data Systems

This year, the HSE Faculty of Business Informatics is launching an English-language master's programme in Big Data Systems. Scholarships are available, particularly for selected applicants who participate in the Olympiad, a competition that is open to students and graduates of university undergraduate and specialist courses from throughout Russia, the CIS, and the Baltic countries. The registration deadline for the Olympiad is March 12, 2014.

The HSE Saint Petersburg Opened Its Doors to International Students

HSE International Week in Saint Petersburg was a great success. This first-time event was taking place on February 10-14, 2014. The international students were meeting with the University’s best lecturers and researchers and visiting the city’s attractions.

International Sociology for Master’s Students

The HSE is accepting applications to the International Master’s Programme in Comparative Social Research. The programme was developed by the Laboratory of Comparative Social Research in collaboration with the Faculty of Sociology. Eduard Ponarin, Director of the LCSR, shared his views on preparing modern analysts, and in which areas of global economy they could apply their skills and knowledge.

Morocco, Italy, and South Korea Found Common Interests in Russia

The students from nine countries took part in the HSE International Winter School. In addition to various student presentations, lectures, and consultations by experts, the school programme also included role-playing games.
