The VIII BRICS International School

Within the framework of the Russian BRICS Chairship, the VIII BRICS International School will take place in Moscow on October 1–3.The BRICS International School is a short-term, customized scientific and educational programme aimed at training young experts specializing in BRICS-related studies in political, economic, and humanitarian fields, as well as other relevant areas of interaction and cooperation among the BRICS member states. 

Since its launch in 2017, the programme has been organized annually with advisory support from the Russian Federation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the purpose of expanding the number of young professionals who specialize in BRICS-related topics, or BRICSologists.

In 2024, the programme is hosted by the BRICS Expert Council – Russia and the National Committee on BRICS Research, Russia with the support of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and MGIMO University, as part of the Russian Government's Priority 2030 university support programme.

As part of the group's "outreach" efforts, the BRICS International School is available to young people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are in university or doctoral programmes; scientists and researchers; diplomats and government officials; foreign affairs journalists; entrepreneurs; and representatives of non-governmental organizations and private associations from the BRICS countries as well as from other countries of interest to each of the BRICS members.

Participants will have the exceptional chance to attend specifically crafted lectures given by mentors who are experienced BRICSologists with extensive expertise, chosen from among the top Russian and international scholars and practitioners specialized in BRICS-related research. To broaden their professional knowledge, horizons, and viewpoints while honing their communication skills among their BRICS peers, participants will engage in workshops, business games, debates, and discussions.

Traditionally, participants will meet Mr. Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Russia’s BRICS Sherpa.

 

Deadline for applications is August 15. Participants are selected on a competitive basis.
