ANR-Lab open seminar "New centrality indices. Vulnerability of countries to imports"

Event ended

On September 9 at 16:30, Daniil Tkachev, Junior Research Fellow at the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis, will present the topic "New centrality indices. Vulnerability of countries to imports".

Daniil Tkachev, Junior Research Fellow at the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis, Lecturer at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and the Department of Mathematics, will present his research at ANR open seminar.

One of the main tasks of network analysis is to identify important nodes. Various centrality indices are used as a measure of node importance. Classic centrality indices (In-degree/Out-degree centrality, betweenness centrality, closeness centrality, eigenvector centrality, PageRank, Katz centrality, etc.) have a number of shortcomings and limitations. One of them is the fact that they do not take into account the parameters of nodes and the possibility of group influence of nodes on each other. To take into account group influence and node parameters, Bundle and Pivotal centrality indices were introduced. In this report, Daniil Tkachev will consider the Bundle and Pivotal indices and present new models for identifying countries' vulnerability to imports of grain crops, rare earth compounds, and oil based on the Bundle and Pivotal centrality values.
