25%

of first-year male HSE students have made achievements in sports. Among first-year female students, only 14% have made such accomplishments.

Females have fared better in creative areas, with 21% of first-year female students boasting success in acting, painting, music and much more. Only 9% of young people have achievements in these areas.

These data were obtained during a Monitoring of First-Year HSE Undergraduates study conducted by the Centre of Institutional Monitoring. More information on the survey results can be found in a new issue of Tipichnaya Vyshka (in Russian).

Hari the Robot Recommends

We created Hari the robot and named him after Hari Seldon, a character who can predict the future in the works of science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. He is based on a machine-learning model that selects news based on the behavioural metrics of HSE website users.

Don’t worry — we don’t collect any personal data for this.

Open Day: The Future Begins Here

On March 2, an HSE Open Day for prospective undergraduates and specialist students will take place — one of the largest and most significant events for applicants, their parents, and the entire university. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with students and representatives of educational programmes, plan their admission process, and immerse themselves in the HSE University atmosphere for a day. The event will be held in Russian.
