New Platform at HSE to Present Research by International Laboratories and Centres
HSE is launching a new platform to host popular science lectures for all students and staff. The new lecture series will unveil the results of the most recent research carried out by HSE’s laboratories and advanced research centres.
The lectures will take place on Thursdays at the HSE Professors’ Club. The new series aims not only to introduce the work of HSE centres and international laboratories to those who study and work at the university, but also to share the ideas, results and experience with colleagues.
The series’ lecturers include both renowned international experts and young researchers who are presenting their first academic results. Apart from listening to lectures, the audience will also take part in business games, talk shows and other interactive events.
Each lecture will be preceded by a presentation of the department responsible for organizing the event. Staff members will speak about their most significant achievements and plans for the future. For now, the lectures will be available only for HSE students and staff, but they will eventually be opened to a broader audience as well.
The first event to be held on the new popular science platform at HSE will be a lecture entitled ‘How we understand numbers’ by Andrey Myachikov, leading research fellow at the HSE Centre for Cognition & Decision Making. The lecture will take place on March 22, 2016. (See more about the event). This lecture will be held in Russian, but in the future, lectures and discussions will also be held in English.
On April 7 and April 14, 2016, the Laboratory for Nonprofit Sector Studies will hold two meetings focused on dispelling the myths related to civil society that exist in Russia and abroad.
