Health Day to Be Held at HSE
On April 7th, 2016, the Higher School of Economics will host a campaign timed to coincide with World Health Day. The event has been organized by HSE in cooperation with the Moscow Department of Healthcare.
Every year, World Health Day is celebrated on April 7th – the day the World Health Organization was founded. In 2016 the main focus of Health Day will be diabetes.
From 9 am to 3 pm at the HSE building at 9/11 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa, health centres for HSE lecturers and staff members (room 428) as well as for students (room 430) will be open.
All day long there will be events, including ‘Attention: Diabetes!’ (room 424), ‘Save Your Health!’ (room 429) and ‘Sober Life without Addictions’ (room 431). Visitors will be able to measure their basic physical parameters (anthropometry), determine the functions of external respiration (spirometry), measure their heart activity with Cardiovision, determine the concentration of carbon monoxide in exhaled breath with Smokerlyzer, measure cholesterol and blood sugar, and do electrocardiography. In addition, all participants will be able to attend consultations by leading medical specialists (room 429): including an endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, urologist, and a general practitioner.
The official opening ceremony will start at 1 pm. Alexey Khripun, Head of the Moscow City Healthcare Department, will take part in the ceremony.
From 1.10 pm to 1.20, a gymnastic flash mob ‘Work out with an Olympic star’ will be organized.
From 2.00 pm to 2.30, a roundtable ‘Syndrome of emotional burnout: problems and solutions’ will be organized for the HSE faculty in room 432. This event will be moderated by Svetlana Safontseva, candidate of psychological sciences and a clinical psychologist.
Students will be able to participate in psychological training on communication skills development in a session named ‘Communication Aikido’. This event will be held in room 432 at 11.30 (Lecturer - Alexandra Kiseleva, leading medical psychologist, candidate of psychological sciences). All students are also invited to participate in a roundtable on ‘Early diagnosis of surfactant consumption as a way to prevent drug addiction and alcoholism’ that will be held in room 432 at 1.00 pm.
Everyone interested can also attend the lecture ‘Healthy Lifestyle as the Key to Preventing Diabetes’, delivered by Olga Koteshkova, candidate of medical sciences, and endocrinologist. The lecture will start at 10.00 am in room 432.
All the lectures will be delivered in Russian.
