Publicly, over the Atlantic

On December 18th the latest video conference as part of the Master’s programme on ‘The Sociology of the Public Sphere and Social Communications’ took place at the Higher School of Economics. You can watch a video of the event here.

Joint Defense of Vital Interests

On November 24th a French-Russian roundtable discussion entitled ‘Thoughts on Europe’s Geopolitics’, with the participation of Michel Foucher, Director of the Centre for Analysis and Forecasting, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took place at the HSE.

‘I Never Went Back to Mexico’

On November 20th a meeting with Fernando Pelaez-Pier, the President of the International Bar Association, took place at the HSE. He answered numerous questions from the students with the help of his colleagues - Akira Kawamura, Vice President, and Tomasz Wardynski, PR Director.

‘Our Student Exchange will not be a One-off Event’

Angelika Nussberger, Director of the Cologne University Institute for Eastern European Law, and Eduard Ivanov, Deputy Dean of the HSE Faculty of Law, told us about the Russian-German seminar on ‘International Legal Problems of Counterterrorism’, which took place at the HSE on November 5th and 6th, as well as about plans for further cooperation between the two universities.

Changing the World for the Better

Recently one of our former students paid a visit to the HSE Nizhny Novgorod branch. This fact would not surprise anyone if we did not take into account that Kaloyan Iliev (and he is the one we are talking about) is a citizen of Austria. Five years ago he spent a year at the Higher School of Economics as part of an international student exchange programme .

HSE Explores Possible Worlds

On October 29th and 30th an international conference on ‘Ontology of Possible Worlds’ took place at the HSE. It was organized by the HSE Faculty of Philosophy together with the University de Caen (Normandy, France).

Noblesse Oblige

Isak Froumin, Academic Supervisor of the HSE Institute for the Development of Education, told us what the status of the National Research University means for the Higher School of Economics and how this status has been gained.

HSE: a New Official Status

The Higher School of Economics has been given the status of a National Research University.

To the Future with Foresight

Foresight research allows us to predict the future, and therefore to be ready for it. This was the main idea of the seminar ‘Scientific, Technical and Innovation Policies ’which was held on October 6th by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge with the participation of experts from the University of Manchester.

Media Management in an Era of Change

Why does Metro newspaper have 20 million daily readers? How does the BBC master new technologies and how do they influence the company’s management? We publish the answers given by Swedish professors to these questions at a seminar which took place on September 30th at the HSE. We’re also publishing a video of the presentations given by Nils Enlund on ‘The Role of Technology Factors in Media Systems Development’and Christopher Rosenqwist on ‘Changes in Business Technologies through the example of Metro Newspaper’.
