HSE University and VK have announced their strategic cooperation in the field of online education. The partners plan to launch an educational platform that offers courses from leading Russian universities.

HSE University will be the flagship partner of the new educational platform, which is being created on the basis of Skillbox technologies (part of the VK ecosystem). Other Russian universities can also join at a later stage. HSE University will provide students with access to its Russian and English-language online courses with the option of subscribing and obtaining certificates.

HSE University is the largest Russian university in the online learning market both in Russia and abroad. Under the new partnership, about 100 online courses will be available to students.

‘HSE University was one of the first Russian universities to develop online education. And now we want to increase the availability of quality education for all users, regardless of their location or profession. We see great opportunities for the development of this market, and that is why we initiated this strategic partnership with VK and the Skillbox platform. Now it is important for Russia to ensure technological sovereignty in the field of online education, and this is one of the first steps in this direction,’ says HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov.

‘The educational content of leading Russian universities is in demand among people of all ages and professions across Russia. The project focuses on providing maximum opportunities for studying and advanced training through the synergy of technologies and the best educational methods involving leading Russian lecturers,’ says Vladimir Kiriyenko, VK CEO. ‘We are glad that HSE University, whose educational programmes set the standard of quality in the field of higher education, will be the project’s flagship partner. VK, in turn, will ensure the availability and effectiveness of programmes thanks to technological solutions and unique digital services.’

HSE University is the leading Russian university in the field of online education, and this area is one of its strategic development aims. The university develops online projects to ensure varied and high-quality teaching, make learning as transparent and effective as possible, and promote lifelong learning.

Hari the Robot Recommends

We created Hari the robot and named him after Hari Seldon, a character who can predict the future in the works of science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. He is based on a machine-learning model that selects news based on the behavioural metrics of HSE website users.
