HSE in St. Petersburg is often warmly referred to as a ‘big family’, so it’s nice that this family is particularly multinational. Students from 40 countries currently study at HSE St. Petersburg, and have the opportunity not only to gain new knowledge and valuable skills in intercultural communication, but also to make friends from all over the world.

graduates of the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF HSE) will be awarded diplomas with first class honours for 2016 from the University of London. This is the largest number of ICEF graduates to receive degrees at this level. The previous record was 29 graduates with first class honours.
Language of Generations Project Wins 2016 KIvO Award
On September 12, the winner of the 2016 Innovation in Education (KIvO) award was announced at the EdCrunch International Conference on New Educational Technologies. Taking home the prize this year was The Language of Generations, a social project that pairs up senior citizens from Russia with foreign students who are learning Russian.

Simulation games involve the recreation of various situations within the framework of a specially designed environment. There are many different types of games, but most come in the form of computer simulations used in the fields of medicine, flight training, business, and politics. Simulation games are unique in that they are used mostly in practice; that is, they are constructed and only then is one able to see whether these constructions work or not. To learn how to take a scientific approach towards this topic, Natalia Isaeva, Junior Research Fellow and Doctoral student at the Institute of Education went to the Netherlands to study at Maastricht University.

Higher School of Economics (HSE) moved from the 501-550 to the 411-420 group on the QS World University Ranking for 2016/17.

Juniar Laraswanda Umagapi, a native of Ternate in East Indonesia, is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Political Analysis and Public Policy at HSE. She originally discovered the programme on StudyPortals, and agreed to speak about her experience researching and applying to international universities.
‘I’m Planning to Stay at HSE on an Exchange Programme’
On August 20, the third Summer University at HSE drew to a close. More than 100 foreign participants spent several weeks in Moscow, as well as one week each on the St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod campuses. Some of them have decided to extend their stay at HSE for a while longer.
International Students Can Learn Russian from Russian Seniors
A project led by a group of HSE students and alumni called The Language of Generations has won a competition held by the Vladimir Potanin Foundation that is designed to recognize projects with social significance. The idea behind the project is to introduce foreign students of Russian to senior citizens from Russia. As a result, students will gain additional language practice, and older people will have the opportunity for additional communication.
