According to the decision of Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, fourteen HSE staff members were officially recognised by Moscow Government, with the awards being timed to coincide with the 25^th anniversary of the university.

The HSE MIEM 3D Visualization and Computer Graphics Laboratory worked alongside the Sergei Chelnokov Foundation to create a slide film based on the stereoscopic photographs of Russian photographers working at the turn of the 20^th century. A viewing of the film will take place on October 18^th as part of the exhibition From the Belle Époque to Revolution – the History of Russia through sterophotography 1880–1917 in 3D.

eLearning Stakeholders and Researchers Summit 2017 – an event organized by HSE and Coursera – took place on October 10 in Moscow.

For Hoang Thanh Tung, who recently earned his bachelor’s degree at the Institute of International Languages - Vietnam National University, the decision to pursue a Master’s degree in the Faculty of Business and Management at HSE is in some ways a homecoming. Although coming most recently from Hanoi, Vietnam, he was born in Russia and spent much of his time growing up in the country, living with his parents in both Moscow and Ufa.

Master’s programmes in Economics and Finance offered by the HSE campus in Nizhny Novgorod have received accreditation from the АССА (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

The Moscow Centre for Continuous Mathematical Education, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, has prepared a list of Russia’s 500 best schools. The HSE Secondary School came 5th in the total ranking, rising five positions compared with last year.

Evgeny Yasin, HSE Academic Supervisor, Tenured Professor, PhD in Economics, Professor in the Faculty of Economics, Academic Council member, and Academic Supervisor of the Expert Institute spoke on his scientific interests, research projects and achievements, as well as shared his thoughts on HSE research development.

Olga Balakina graduated from the ICEF master’s programme in 2011, and in May she successfully defended her PhD thesis in finance at Bocconi University, Italy. This autumn Olga continues her academic career at one of Northern Europe’s oldest universities, Lund University, Sweden. Olga spoke to the HSE news service about her memories, chocolate, and non-stop work.
