Foresight-Russia: Call for Papers
The scientific journal Foresight-Russia is issuing a call for papers. The editors invite all types of empirical or analytical studies, simulations or modeling exercises, conceptional papers, case studies (e.g. foremost foresight exercises in other countries).
The scientific journal Foresight-Russia, established in 2007, is a high quality peer reviewed journal published by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK), the largest research unit at the National Research University – Higher School of Economics, Moscow (HSE).
The journal’s mission is to enable knowledge flow and expertise exchange between all types of actors, but especially in the triangle of academia, practitioners and policy makers.
The journal targets high quality contributions of both researchers and practitioners in a broad area, including the following fields:
- Foresight methodologies and best practices
- Advanced practices of Foresight studies
- Long-term socio-economic priorities for strategic planning and policy making
- Studies of future trends and Grand Challenges
- Development of National Innovation Systems
- S&T and innovation trends and indicators
- S&T and innovation policies
- Strategic programmes of innovation development at national, regional, sectoral and corporate levels.
The editors invite all types of empirical or analytical studies, simulations or modeling exercises, conceptional papers, case studies (e.g. foremost foresight exercises in other countries).
Foresight-Russia ranks among the highest impact academic journals in Russia and is indexed and referenced in Scopus, SSRN, RePEc, EBSCO, etc. Its reviewers are leading scientists in different disciplines both from Russia and worldwide.
The journal publishes quarterly and has an ever increasing number of readers in Russia, the countries of the former USSR and the world.
The journal’s excellent base of reviewers allows for a fast review and publication process. Submission is accepted both in English and Russian. English contributions will be translated and edited at no cost to the authors.

Director of the HSE International Research and Educational Foresight Centre Participates in UN Commission Meeting in Geneva
An intersessional meeting of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development took place on October 21–22, 2024, at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. ProfessorAlexander Sokolov presented new methods of scientific forecasting in his report titled ‘Science and Technology Foresight: Responding to New Agenda.’
‘Geographical Distance No Longer a Problem’: ISSEK Fosters Cooperation with Think Tanks in BRICS Countries
In September, the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge hosted an international working meeting with representatives from Brazilian, Egyptian, and Indian think tanks. The participants discussed opportunities for cooperation, including joint surveys, comparative studies, databases, and publications on foresight, technology, and innovation. It was also decided to draft a multilateral agreement to establish the BRICS Foresight Association.
‘An STI-Accelerated and Informed Future is Possible’
The Twelfth International Academic Conference ‘Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy’ is kicking off at HSE University on November 22. Alexander Sokolov, chair of the organising committee, talked to the HSE News Service about the evolution of the foresight agenda. UNESCO Chair on Future Studies Opens at HSE University
In 2022, a HSE University department joined the ranks of UNESCO Futures Literacy Chairs.
