HSE University Launches International Research Project Competition
HSE has announced the latest ‘International Academic Cooperation of HSE University’ open competition of joint basic research projects. The competition is aimed at strengthening global scientific collaboration, expanding the university's research agenda, and involving students and postgraduates in world-class fundamental research.
HSE University is opening its doors to international scientific collaboration with the launch of the ‘International Academic Cooperation’ competition of joint basic research projects.
Objectives of the Competition:

to involve students and postgraduates at HSE in world-class projects
to cultivate an academic culture for new generations of researchers
The competition is open to members of HSE University scientific and research divisions planning to implement fundamental research projects in collaboration with international universities and research centres. A key requirement is alignment in research themes between HSE and its international partners.

‘This competition aims to establish new international scientific ties with leading global universities and research centres and to strengthen existing ones. It will allow scientists from different countries to exchange ideas, jointly develop new research directions, and initiate interdisciplinary studies,’ said Marina Litvintseva, HSE’s Director for Advanced Research. ‘The initiative is designed to immerse young researchers, students, and postgraduates in an atmosphere of academic creativity, offering them the unique chance to work on significant projects under the guidance of top scholars from beyond our university. The competition is open to HSE scientific departments that plan to carry out joint fundamental research with international colleagues working on common scientific topics. It is also aimed at developing a model of international scientific and technical cooperation that will enhance the competitiveness of Russian specialists through productive interaction with colleagues from other countries.’
Competition Timeline
Applications are accepted until February 3, 2025. During the application period, consultations for competition participants will be held. Compliance checks for technical requirements will take place from February 4 to February 10, and the review of applications and interviews will be conducted from February 11 to April 14, 2025.
The results of the competition will be announced on April 30. On May 15, 2025, the list of winners will be published on the HSE website.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online through a form on the HSE University website. The application should include:
documents from the international scientific partner
completed forms (1–6) in English in both .doc and .pdf formats
a video presentation on the research project
HSE University encourages interested researchers and teams to participate and advance science beyond borders.
