60%

of Russians are prepared to join up with other people for some sort of collaborative action if their ideas and interests coincide; 28% are not prepared.

Young people age 18-30 are more inclined to take part in joint projects (72%), while representatives of the older generation agree to join forces only half as much (38%). People who have attained an education level less than average are in no rush to work together, with only 36% ready to cooperate. At the same time, people who have a higher education more frequently speak of their readiness to team up (66%).

These results were obtained during a national survey of 2,000 Russians conducted in 2013 as part of Monitoring the Status of Civil Society, a monitoring study run by the HSE’s Centre for Studies of Civil Society and the Nonprofit Sector. The survey was supported by the HSE’s Basic Research Programme, with information collected by Public Opinion Foundation. The results of this research will be published on the monitoring study’s website.
