Make the Most of the Sun

Professor Alexey Tameev of HSE MIEM, along with a team of colleagues, has proposed a calculation method to determine the optimal photoactive layer thickness which can maximize the power conversion efficiency of solar cells. Applicable for both polymer andperovskite solar cells, the method can become a milestone on the path from laboratory samples to solar cells made from new generation materials. The results of the research are covered in ‘A common optical approach to thickness optimization in polymer and perovskite solar cells’, an article published in Scientific Reports.

HSE Graduate School of Business Student Teams Win Flourish Prize 2021

In the contest organized by AIM2Flourish, students from various countries tell stories about companies that promote the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. HSE students won in the global goals of ‘Quality Education’ and ‘Partnerships for the Goals’ with cases of Kaspersky and VimpelCom PJSC (Beeline brand), respectively. They have become the first Russian representatives to earn these prestigious awards.

Maths on Top: HSE Enters the Top 100 in the ARWU Ranking

HSE University is the only Russian university to rank among the top 100 universities worldwide in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in Mathematics. This is an impressive feat, considering that the Faculty of Mathematics has only been around since 2007. HSE Is Sole Representative of Russia in 5 Shanghai Global Subject Rankings

HSE University is now represented in eight subject rankings of the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. In five of these subjects, HSE is the only university from Russia, and in three other subjects, HSE outranks its domestic peers. HSE University is thereby the highest-ranking Russian university in the ranking.

The AMC Makeathon is an annual makeathon from the American Center in Moscow (AMC). This year it was held online and focused on ecology, environmental literacy, and the green economy. Educational Studies, an academic journal founded by HSE University in 2004, has become the first Russian journal to enter the first quartile in Education in Scopus. On May 12, the HSE Graduate School of Business hosted the CIMA Emerging Leaders Competition, an international case championship. The competition is aimed at helping students advance their skills in business process modelling and business forecasting. A team from Southern Federal University (SFU) took first place, and teams from HSE University came in second and third.
