Winners of International Olympiad in Informatics for High Schoolers Choose to Study at HSE
Two members of the Russian team that took the gold at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2019 were excused from their entrance exams and gained entrance to HSE University. Vladimir Romanov will be enrolling in the Faculty of Computer Science at HSE’s Moscow campus, and Alexander Morozov will be matriculating at the St. Petersburg School of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science at HSE’s St. Petersburg campus.
HSE Students Take 3rd Place at International Mathematics Competition for University Students
The International Mathematics Competition for University Students was held in Bulgaria from June 28th to August 3rd, 2019. 360 students from 77 teams from all over the world took part in one of the most prestigious student competitions in mathematics. Teams from the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Mathematics represented HSE University at the event.

The Russian Science Foundation announced the results of its 2019 competitions for support from the Presidential Research Project Programme. One competition was for grants in support of research initiatives by early career researchers, and another was in support of research conducted by research groups headed by early career scholars.

HSE Lyceum Sophomore Creates Video Short for Museum of Moscow Exhibition
A video created by Polina Sotnikova, a student of the ‘Design’ programme at the HSE Lyceum, is being shown as part of the interactive exhibit Gogol in Moscow, which runs until June 2. The work, created in a motion design style, is currently being shown in the museum’s exhibit hall, which attracted tens of thousands of people on Museum Night.
First HSE Researchers to Receive a Patent from US Patent and Trademark Office
The new patented method is based on a superposition of functions and considerably enhances the speed and precision of Big Data processing. The project’s authors are Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor at HSE and Head of the International Laboratory of Decision Choice and Analysis, Laboratory Researchers Sergey Shvydun, Evgeny Mitichkin and Vyacheslav Yakuba, as well as Vyacheslav Chistyakov, Professor at the HSE Campus in Nizhny Novgorod.
