In December, the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge and the HSE AI Research Centre participated in UNCTAD eWeek to discuss the future of the emerging digital economy. One of the topics discussed during the conference was artificial intelligence and its applications in driving the digital transformation of industry sectors. The session was co-organised by HSE University.
HSE University at EdCrunch X: Online Campus Transforms Students’ and Teachers’ Perceptions
HSE University’s online campus took part in EdCrunch X, the anniversary global conference on digital technologies in education, in November. The event, under the slogan ‘Imagine a world where everyone has equal opportunities,’ brought together more than 3,000 in-person participants in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and more than 10,000 online listeners from 25 countries.
The ICEF-CInSt Conference as a Platform for International Research Networking
On November 24–25, 2023, the 12th ICEF-CInSt International Finance Conference took place in Moscow. Researchers from Russia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the USA, Canada, Italy, and the United Kingdom contributed as speakers and discussants. Olympiads, Postdocs, World-class Research Centres: Opportunities for Young International Researchers in Russia
The III Young Scientists Congress took place in the Sirius Science and Art Park on November 28–30, 2023. On the first day of the forum, a discussion was held on the tools and opportunities for engaging international early-career researchers in Russian science. The meeting was organised by HSE University together with members of the Association of Global Universities.
‘You Feel That the Impossible Becomes Possible’
In November, an open talk with Tatyana Bakalchuk, the founder of Wildberries, took place at HSE University’s Cultural Centre. The topic of the meeting was ‘The Era of the Platform Economy: Opportunities and Prospects for Everyone.’ A thousand people gathered to listen to the speech—students, teachers, and staff not only from HSE University, but also from other universities, as well as representatives of the business community. The event was organised by the HSE Business Club.
Photography Week at the HSE Art and Design School: From Documentary to Fashion Photography
Photography Week took place on November 20–25 at the HSE Art and Design School. As part of the festival, the HSE ART GALLERY presented works by students of the Photography track from recent years, while CREATIVE HUB hosted a conference titled ‘Photography: More than Art.’
The ‘Grow with HSE University!’ Forum: ‘A Platform for Communication and Reinvigorating Ideas’
In late October, the ‘Grow with HSE University!’ forum was held in Moscow. The forum aimed at encouraging an exchange of best academic practices and cultivating cooperation between the University and various schools. Teachers and administrators from 76 regions of Russia and 16 countries took part. Over 3,500 people signed up for the forum, and even more people joined the events online. The plenary discussion alone was watched online by over 15,000 people.
Media Literacy: New Trends, Opportunities and Challenges of the Information Age
On November 8 and 9, HSE University hosted the All-Russian Conference 'Media and Information Literacy in Russia: Latest Trends.' The conference was organised jointly by the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the Institute of Media of the HSE Faculty of Creative Industries. The event was timed to coincide with UNESCO's Global Week of Media and Information Literacy.

HSE University in Nizhny recently hosted the 2nd Autumn Neuro-linguistic School ‘NeuroSciCom: Popularising Language and Brain Studies’ for scientists and students at the HSE Centre for Language and Brain Studies in Nizhny Novgorod. The school was held as part of the 'Human Brain Resilience: Neurocognitive Technologies for Adaptation, Learning, Development and Rehabilitation in a Changing Environment' Strategic Project of the Priority 2030 programme.

The interrelation between the tasks of maintaining peace, preserving sovereignty, and ensuring gas supplies, the role of external players, Russia’s strategy in relation to the energy industries in Mediterranean countries in the changed economic and political context—these and other topics were discussed by the participants of the international scientific conference ‘Russia and the Greater Mediterranean 2023.
