Arnab Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Professor at the HSE School of Sociology, Moscow, has worked at HSE since 2017. In 2022, he was named one of the university’s best teachers by student vote. He has published several papers in internationally recognised journals and supervised a number of doctoral students. Ugo Cavitte, a 22-year-old student from the north of France, is currently in his second year of studying for a Master's degree in Pedagogy at the HSE Institute of Education. In addition, he teaches French as a foreign language at HSE's School of Foreign Languages and online. In a recent interview, Ugo shared his experience of studying at HSE and teaching French, as well as his advice for those who want to learn a foreign language better and faster. He also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of online learning, and shared his love for Russian cuisine and culture.

Shweta Sikhwal, from India, is a research assistant at the International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development of the HSE University Institute for Industrial and Market Studies. In a seminar on May 26, 2023, she presented her paper ‘Can machine learning models provide a better forecast of money demand? Evidence from the Indian economy’ as part of a series on ‘Institutional Problems of the Russian Economy’. Shweta spoke to the HSE News Service about the seminar, her PhD research, and her experience of life in Moscow.

Majid Sohrabi is a 28 year-old student from Iran currently enrolled in a doctoral programme at the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science. Before starting his PhD, he graduated with honours from the university’s Master of Data Science programme. In addition to studying, he also works as an assistant at the School of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence and a research assistant at the Laboratory for Models and Methods of Computational Pragmatics.

Carlos Rincon on His Career in Finance and Teaching Experience

Carlos J. Rincon already had an eventful career before he ended up studying and teaching at HSE University-St Petersburg. The professor was born in Colombia and worked in his native country and the USA in the financial sector before starting his academic career. Not wanting to rest on his laurels, Carlos enrolled in the Master’s programme ‘Finance’ at HSE University-St Petersburg, where he has been studying and teaching since 2019.

Anatolie Cecalenco was born in the Republic of Moldova and entered the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science' at HSE University. Then, he continued his education on the Master's programme 'Business and Politics in Modern Asia' at HSE University-St Petersburg. Currently, Anatolie is a PhD student and a lecturer at the campus. He also works as an ESG specialist for the company Business Solutions and Technology (which formerly operated in Russia as Deloitte). We talked to the PhD student about his studies and work.

As part of its Digital Professors programme, HSE University invites international lecturers to work with students remotely. One of the participants of the programme is Dr Ivan Ivanchei, Research Assistant of the Department of Experimental Psychology at Ghent University (Belgium). He conducted an elective course at HSE University entitled ‘Introduction to Computer Modeling of Cognitive Processes.’
