According to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) 2011, Candidate of Sciences belongs to ISCED level 8 - "doctoral or equivalent", together with PhD, DPhil, D.Lit, D.Sc, LL.D, Doctorate or similar. Candidate of Sciences allows its holders to reach the level of the Associate Professor.
A post-doctoral degree called Doctor of Sciences is given to reflect second advanced research qualifications or higher doctorates in ISCED 2011.
Responsibilities
To conduct teaching at a high scientific and methodological level in accordance with the standards of leading research universities, to ensure the integration of science and the educational process in statistics and data analysis.
Regularly publish the results of research in leading Russian journals and present them at scientific conferences and seminars.
To train highly qualified specialists with the defense of doctoral and candidate theses on the application of methods of applied statistics and econometrics in socio-economic research.
To organize and facilitate the active participation of teachers, graduate and PhD students in international conferences organized by the department with the involvement of leading Russian and foreign experts:
- International academic conference for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students «Statistical methods application for analysis of economics and society» (held annually);
- International conference «Multivariate statistics and quality control in honour of Prof. Seigei Aivazyan» (held once every four years)
