HSE University and Yandex to Host International AI Olympiad for Students
The HSE Faculty of Computer Science and Yandex Education are launching their first joint AI competition, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis Olympiad (AIDAO), for students from around the world. Participants will tackle challenging tasks in science and industry and interact with experts from HSE and Yandex. The winners will receive cash prizes.

Fall into ML: Autumn School and Conference on Machine Learning Held at HSE University
On November 1st-3rd, 2022 the International Laboratory of Stochastic Algorithms and High-Dimensional Inference of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and the Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis with the support of HSE AI Centre and the Russian Science Foundation organized the first autumn school and conference on artificial intelligence ‘Fall into ML’. Researchers from the Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis (LAMBDA) at the HSEFaculty of Computer Science have created a monitoring system that is used in the Large Hadron Collider beauty experiment (LHCb). The system helps track the quality of the collected data and allows operators to quickly find errors.

HSE University among Founders of Super C-Tau Factory
Ten universities and institutes have announced a partnership to construct an electron-positron collider in order to study the production and properties of charmed particles and tau leptons. The new experiment will be part of the Super C-Tau Factory project. It was founded by two international teams and eight from Russia, including HSE University.

HSE Researcher Appointed Coordinator in Large Hadron Collider Experiment
Mikhail Guschin, Research Fellow at the HSE University Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis of the Faculty of Computer Science, was appointed coordinator of the machine learning and statistics working group in the LHCb Large Hadron Collider experiment at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research). He will be the only representative of a Russian University among the coordinators for the experiment’s working groups.

HSE Becomes LHCb Associate Member at CERN
The Higher School of Economics has joined the LHCb collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider, which is operated by the European Organization for Nuclear Research. The group from HSE will consist of researchers from the Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis (LAMBDA). This will give HSE researchers full access to data from the collaboration and allow the university to participate in various projects.
Masterclasses Introduce High School Students to Particle Physics
National Research University Higher School of Economics hosted a masterclass in particle physics on March 27 and brought high school students to participate. These students took a day off from school to go to the University and dive into the actual data. Scientists of the HSE Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis (LAMBDA) Denis Derkach and Fedor Ratnikov introduced them to the tiniest building blocks of the universe and to the accelerators and detectors which probe these mysterious particles.

HSE Researchers Receive a Grant to Search for New Physics
A team of researchers from the HSE Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis (LAMBDA) has won a contest held by the Presidential Research Funding Programme. Researchers with the laboratory are developing a system of algorithms that will help physicists look for new particles in the Large Hadron Collider.

International Experts in the Faculty of Computer Science
An important step in integrating the university into the global educational, scientific and research space is the expansion of international recruiting. Since its very first year, the Faculty of Computer Science at the Higher School of Economics has had a foreign professor working on staff. In 2015, four internationally recruited experts teach and conduct research in the faculty.
