Academic biography
Dr Svetlana Yatsyk is a Junior research fellow and a short-term lecturer at the Centre of Medieval Studies. She has recently defended her doctoral dissertation which she worked on at the Centre for Medieval Studies. Before coming to HSE for a graduate course in medieval history, she had been trained as a historian at the Moscow State Lomonosov University.
Svetlana has taught at the Centre and has had an impressive range of international academic experiences including visits to University of Mannheim (Germany), Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), and Heinrich Heine University (Germany). She is editor-in-chief of the Vox Medii Aevii.
Research interests
Dr Yatkys has done research on various aspects of the medieval cult of saints and the concept of sanctity. She has a special interest in John of Wales writings and thought. Svetlana has also worked on papal canonisation and its working, as well as aspects of late medieval culture in Russia
