In 2022 "Data Journalism" becomes a track within the "Contemporary Journalism" Masters’ Programme

Data journalism is very much classic journalism that creates and delivers narratives, only this particular breed is armed with technology, the skill to analyse and extract meaning from the endless flow of data that our life has now become. The world around us has become extremely hi-tech and tech-savvy. To see through data and make sense of the world for audiences, the media must be just as advanced in its technology. 

Russia's first Data Journalism MA programme enables students to extract narratives from datasets, delivering all the tools and skills necessary to do so – from finding or gathering data, to processing and analysis, to visualizing data and creating data-based stories in various environments and on various platforms. Additionally, the programme covers a wide range of methods used in newsroom automatization and robotization, teaching students to create tools for automating routine journalist tasks where necessary.
