Maria Kozlova, 4th-year student of the Faculty of Economics, has won the competition ‘Miss D 2013’ at a pageant organized by the HSE Dubki Dorm in December.
The Miss D project ran for two months. Eight girls, who were selected through auditions, got down to serious preparations. In November and December they worked with professional photographers and a makeup artist, who taught the contestants how to act in front of the camera and chose the right pose, and experts from the Golden Models Agency gave them a course on stage movement (the art of modelling and how to walk on the catwalk).
In the finals each contestant put on a video presentation, a creative number, an improvisation, and paraded on the catwalk in casual style and in evening gowns. The creative numbers revealed all sorts of talents: from singing and dancing to stage monologues and Lady Gaga style performances.
Maria Kozlova, winner of the Miss D 2013 title, was awarded a diadem, a gift voucher from an evening and wedding gown boutique, and a free photo session in a professional studio. HSE students Vitalina Terebova and Miroslava Fedotova became the first and second ‘Vice Misses’. Anastasia Zlobina received a special prize from the Golden Models Agency.
The students who organized the competition – Ekaterina Shchegoleva, Roman Arkhipov, Daniil Maslennikov, Konstanting Makshanchikov, and Maria Babinskite – are planning to make it an annual event and hope that next time it will involve girls from all HSE dorms.
