The competitors were all students from Moscow and foreign universities. Countries besides Russia taking part were Macedonia, Romania, Croatia, Northern Cyprus, Lebanon, Senegal, Algeria and Kyrgyzstan. The HSE tennis team outplayed not just foreign teams but also other Moscow university teams - the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, MGIMO (the Moscow State Institute of International Relations), the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and others.
Stanislava Rumyantseva, second year Master’s student at the HSE School of Integrated Communications won the women’s individual event and took another gold medal in the mixed doubles with Nikita Shelyukhayev, graduate from the HSE Faculty of Business Informatics. Second place in the women’s singles was taken by Anastasia Petrashevskaya, third year student at the HSE School of Public Administration. And in the men’s singles, Maksin Paykert, fourth year Business Informatics student, took the bronze.
“We were trained by Nadezhda Kuibisheva, who teaches at the HSE Sports and Physical training Department,” said Stanislava Rumyantseva, captain of the HSE tennis team. “Her colleagues, Oleg Bulykin and Olga Korobova organised the training sessions at convenient times in a central location in Moscow and I don’t think we would have had such an amazing result without them.”
