Sona Hovsepyan’s Dance Company Won Two Prizes at the ‘Power of Silence’ Festival
From January 30 to February 1, 2015, the 8th Contemporary Dance Festival ‘Power of Silence’ took place in St. Petersburg. Fifty-three dancers and dance teams from all over Russian participated in the contest. Three prizes were awarded in the ‘Solo and Duets’ nomination: for the best choreography, the best female dancer, and the best male dancer. Sona Hovsepyan was named as best choreographer, and Diana Mukhamedshina, member of the Dance Company, won the prize for best female performer.
Another two members of the Dance Company, Evgenia Bondar and Elena Kilchitskaya, made it to the finals. A performance by Elena Kilshitskaya, 4th-year undergraduate student of the Faculty of Humanities, opened the final gala concert.
‘We participated in this festival for the first time’, Sona Hovsepyan commented, ‘But thanks to our very successful performance we were invited to the next stage of the ‘Power of Silence’ Contemporary Dance League, which will take place in spring 2015’.
