HSE Extreme Sports Club invites students, lecturers, and graduates of all HSE campuses as well as their families and friends to spend a week in Sochi from 14th to 20th March 2016. Registration is open until February 21st.
‘Krasnaya Polyana is a unique ski resort: it’s only 40 kilometers from the airport and the same distance from the Black Sea coast,’ said club leader Harry Rutberg. ‘As you may know, all the major competitions of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games were held in Krasnaya Polyana, which means that it has a modern infrastructure and top class ski facilities.’
This will be our second trip to Krasnaya Polyana mountains: the first one will take place in February. A lot of people wanted to take part in the trip, which is why the club decided to organize another one in March and call it ‘HSE Sochi Camp Part II’.
According to the organizers, this time of year is even more attractive, at least for those who look forward not only to skiing and snowboarding, but also to getting a tan, as in March the weather here is milder and the days are sunny.
The club organizes a transfer from the airport to the hotel and back. Participants will stay in comfortable rooms in a hotel with breakfast and dinner provided, there is free WiFi and dryers for equipment and clothing in all the rooms. The hotel is located near the ski lifts.
There is also a lounge area in the hotel, where the guests can play games, take part in different competitions, watch snowboarding and skiing videos as well as films about freeriding and safety regulations in the mountains, listen to music and enjoy parties organized by the club.
And, of course, the participants will spend their time skiing and snowboarding down the slopes, or freeriding (for the more experienced). Krasnaya Polyana can be called the Russian Mecca of freeriding, it is a place where some of the rounds of the world freeriding tour will be held. However, don’t worry if you’re not up to this level, experienced instructors from the club will help beginners to learn skiing or snowboarding. The HSE Extreme Sports Club can also provide participants with sports equipment if they don’t have their own skis and snowboards.
