How to Get an Increased Scholarship from the University

The application period for the Increased State Academic Scholarship (ISAS) is now open. International students are also eligible to apply if their tuition is covered by Russian government scholarships (quotas). Detailed information on ISAS applications is below.

Research

Those who have demonstrated noteworthy achievements in research are eligible to apply. Students who have beenrecognized  in the Student Research Paper Competition, received a patent, received a research grant, or published an academic work may receive an increased scholarship.

Academic Progress

Increased scholarships are also awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic progress. Those who passed the two examination periods before the competition with all excellent marks and have the lowest percentile in each semester, or have received awards for projects (except for projects in the Individual Curriculum) or experimental design work are all eligible for an increased scholarship. Winners of subject-specific competitions and Olympiads are also eligible to apply.

Community Work

Scholarships are also awarded for achievements in community work: volunteering, project management, event management, and work with student media. You can apply for several tracks at a time, but only one application with your best result will be chosen in the competition.

Sports

Students may also apply for an increased scholarship in recognition of achievements in sports. Applications may be submitted in several categories:

  • Professional sports: competitions on the list of events approved by the Ministry of Sports and supported by sports federations, and reception of athletic titles and categories;
  • Student sports: outstanding performance in international sports competitions, student sports competitions, championships at different levels, or receiving a GTO badge.

Culture and Creativity

Increased scholarships for cultural and creative achievements are available to students who have received recognition in cultural/creative competitions, publicly presented their literary or art work, or regularly participated in public cultural/creative activities throughout the year.

The applications for scholarships awarded for community work and sports will be evaluated by expert teams, the members of which will be approved by the University-Wide Scholarship Committee. Half of each team will consist of active students.

Applications for the Increased State Academic Scholarship can be made on LMS. To apply, upload all required documents to your portfolio, and attach them to your application. Applications can be created and edited until 3 pm, June 11, 2019. The results of the competition will be announced by July 25, 2019.
