HSE University and Coursera have launched the Coursera for HSE cooperation initiative, which will allow HSE students to obtain free certificates upon their completion of online courses of other learning institution. Moreover, HSE University will cover the cost of the certificates.
Starting in September 2019, HSE University students will get to take part in the Coursera for HSE programme. They also will be able to receive on certificates for online courses offered not only by HSE University, but also by other institutions. At the moment, the programme does not cover online courses offered by the University of Pennsylvania or Stanford University. The cost of the certificate will be covered as long as the online course is part of a student’s individual curriculum and course registration is done through an HSE e-mail address.
HSE students currently take over 200 online courses offered by different universities around the world. Soon they will be able to take advantage of Coursera for HSE initiative and obtain a course certificate. Some HSE students who are currently taking online courses on Coursera have already received invitations to apply for certificates.
Daria Panshina, a HSE Psychology undergrad, got a certificate from the University of Tokyo when she completed the ‘Welcome to Game Theory’ online course on Coursera. She shares her impressions: ‘I am very interested in mathematics and, in particular, game theory. Studying psychology, I got interested in mathematical and statistical methods. Taking this online course not only gave me knowledge, but also the opportunity to confirm this knowledge with a certificate. This is also not the first course I took on the Coursera platform. I have grown quite fond of this mode of study and self-education: it is easy and convenient to study at any time by viewing different video lectures.’
