Little Big Band to Perform at 2019 HSE Graduation

On July 4, around 8,000 students at HSE University in Moscow and their friends will be celebrating their graduation in style, to the sounds of Russian band Little Big.

Little Big will be performing at the HSE Moscow graduation on 4 July. This headliner and the change in the holiday concept is a special gift from the university to its graduates and students.

HSE’s graduation tradition started 6 years ago. Since then, this event has taken on various formats. For instance, the concept has changed from a gala concert with the traditional tossing of caps into sky to costume parties based on popular films.

This year, the organizers decided on a new approach, with music being the concept that unites all learners at HSE - from lyceum students to doctoral graduates; from the natural sciences to the humanities.

For the second year in a row, our students have chosen the musical headliners for HSE festivities. The results are sometimes even a surprise to students themselves. For example, students filmed special talk shows and consulted with their professors to find out why people at our university love Valery Meladze so much.

Little Big is always among the Top-3 favorite performers among HSE students. Over the past year, not only their songs, but also dance moves, which have resulted in a series of flash mobs, went viral. So, it was decided that this rave band would best unite HSE learners, as well as show our latest grads that there’s always a second wind after finishing your thesis and graduating.

All 2019 graduates have already received personal invitations via their HSE e-mail accounts. Invitations for friends and colleagues (HSE alumni from previous years, as well as current students and staff) will be sent out at the end of June. In addition to the concert, there will be a chill-out area, where graduates will receive gifts and hang out with friends while listening to DJ sets.
