Beginning on September 12, HSE students and lecturers will be awarded HSEcoins – a special currency for HSE University that can be donated in support of student projects. HSE Life learned about the new features of the platform.
It used to be that only HSE students could decide which projects deserve funding. Now HSE lecturers (as well as administrative staff in the near future) will be able to participate in the voting and choose what projects should receive support.
This is an important step for the university crowdfunding procedure. All members of our community will now be able to assess the benefits of given projects. This will increase competition among project creators: they will have to convince several target audiences that their project is relevant for them.
You can obtain and transfer them to student projects via the HSEcoin section on the HSE Family website. In 2019, the exchange rate of HSE currency is 200 roubles per 1 HSEcoin.
Students and lecturers can choose to transfer all their funds to one project, or distribute them among different projects. If a project manages to raise more than 70% of the requested funds by the deadline, it is recognized as successful and its creator(s) can use the funds to realise the project. If the project raises less than 70% of the target amount, the funds are returned to the donors.
This academic year the HSE App HSE will be available for undergraduate and graduate students. They will be able to see current crowd campaigns and donate HSEcoins to projects.
A Telegram bot was also created for HSEcoin. If you have any questions or something does not work, please contact @VyshCoin_bot. It knows everything about how the platform works and will try to help you quickly.
Each year more and more successful student projects are implemented on the HSEcoin platform: HSE Music Festival, multilanguage anti-club #poboltaem?, the talent show XCE FACTOR, and many others. If you have an idea, go for it!
Projects can be created in the HSEcoin Section on the HSE Family website. The projects must be non-commercial with a requested amount of at least 15,000 roubles. The collection period ends on November 20. All purchases for the project should be made no later than December 10, 2019. For more information please see the HSEcoin webpage or contact HSEcoin project manager Ekaterina Savitskaya.
