Repair Works Start in Two HSE Buildings

Floors 3 and 4 in the building on Myasnitskaya 18  and the 5th floor on Khitrovka will be closed for urgent repairs

HSE Office of Administrative Buildings have discovered an emergency situation on floors 3 and 4 in buildings on 18 Myasnitskaya and on the 5th floor in the building in Khitrovsky Pereulok, and they will be closed until March-April 2020 for repair works.

‘HSE University administration regularly carry out checks on university buildings. The buildings that we rent often have centuries of history, which leaves its mark on them. Not all problems can be revealed immediately, some of the problems with load-bearing walls are hidden behind layers of decor and plaster, and are not obvious to the naked eye,’ says Alexander Shamrin, HSE First Vice Rector.

There are several research and administrative departments on the 3rd and the 4th floors of the HSE building on Myasnitskaya 18, and these will be relocated. Some lectures for students of the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design take place on the 5th floor of HSE building on Khitrovka, and classes scheduled to be held in this part of the building will take place in other rooms or university buildings.

‘We expect that the repair work will be carried out quickly enough, and by March-April next year all floors will be open again. Research and administrative departments will return to HSE on Myasnitskaya 18, and lectures will again be held on the 5th floor of the building on Khitrovka,’ says Alexander Shamrin.
