HSE SNOW FEST 2020

How HSE Students, Graduates and Employees Greet the Spring

© HSE University

On the first day of spring, HSE SNOW FEST, a winter sports and entertainment event, is traditionally held at the Lata Track sports complex. This year, it was organized by the HSE Extreme Sports Club, the Student Sports Club, Movement, and HSE student mentors.

460 guests attended the event. Training sessions with professional instructors were organized for beginners, and many guests tried skiing or snowboarding for the first time.

This year, HSE’s mascot, the Crow, rode down the slope twice: during the opening and closing of the event while Guests were dancing to music on HSE Radio and warming up with HSE DANCE.

In addition to freeriding, everyone was invited to take part in competitions and quizzes, enjoy pancakes and warm drinks and participate in the traditional costume contest. The theme of this year's competition was ‘Colourful Winter and Summer’, and in their costumes the students combined vivid colours with elements of winter and summer.

The mini-slalom competition in skiing and snowboarding, in which everyone could take part, was the main event of the festival.

HSE Snow Fest is a great opportunity to spend time with HSE students, lecturers and graduates in an informal atmosphere: you can take a ride the slope, drink hot tea with pancakes, and paint a wooden spoon at a masterclass.

This holiday traditionally opens the series of all-university student events at HSE. And, in my opinion, such events create lasting memories of student life, helping you to take a fresh look at your classmates and teachers and find like-minded people. This year it was a particularly bright start, let it be the same for the entire academic year.
