How Students Will Vote on the HSE Student Code of Conduct

HSE student councils will determine the procedure in the coming weeks

The HSE Student Council has announced the voting procedure for the Student Code of Conduct. It will consist of three stages: voting by local student councils, the university-wide HSE Student Council, and the HSE Academic Council.

The University is reaching the end of its work on codes of conduct for faculty, staff, and students. In June, the code will be discussed at the meeting of HSE Academic Council. After several months of working on the document and discussing it with the student community, the group responsible for creating the Student Code of Conduct is also ready to present the project to the Academic Council. Now the document requires approval by local student councils, the HSE Lyceum Student Council, and the HSE Student Council.

How was the Code drafted?

On March 26, a campaign to develop a student code of conduct was launched. The working group was formed by the HSE student rights commissioner following the decision of the student council. The group included representatives of the student council, as well as several students involved in discussions of the code.

On April 27, the student council published the first draft of the code for public discussion. On May 19, after reviewing students' comments, a new version of the text was published, and the code was presented at the HSE International Expert Council meeting.

How will the Code be ratified?

  • Vote by local student councils
  • Vote by the HSE Student Council
  • Vote by the Academic Council

At the first stage, all student councils of HSE departments will discuss the document and form their opinions. Then it will be passed to HSE student council for voting.

The working group recommended that local student councils involve all students willing to participate in the discussions and described the recommended procedure in detail.

How to participate in the final discussion

Discussions within local student councils will be held soon. For more information about the discussions, please see the student council pages on social media (if you can’t find this information, please contact the working group and send a message to Ruslan Aslanov).

You can also leave a comment in the document or write to the student council.
