Why You Need an HSE Email Account

And How to Get One

© Daniil Prokofyev

For HSE students, staff, and faculty members alike, an HSE email account is the main tool for communication. Below we explain why every first-year student needs one and how to get one.

I already have a personal email account. Why do I need an HSE one?

To use university services

Your HSE email address also functions as your login username for accessing HSE online systems, such as Marketplace, SmartLMS, HSEFamily, and the HSE mobile app (HSE App).

To receive prompt tech assistance

Your HSE email account is used to identify you in university information systems. This allows IT support employees to promptly identify you when you contact them for assistance, provide necessary consultation, and resolve the problem quicker.

To not miss out on anything important

Important mailings and listservs are automatically generated and disseminated using students’ HSE email addresses. Check your HSE email regularly so that you don’t miss an important message about a class scheduling change or an important deadline.

To have easy access to course materials

All HSE students receive a free subscription to Microsoft Office 365 via their HSE email account. This subscription can be installed on up to five different devices.

Awesome! How do I get an HSE email account?

Students who are already enrolled will receive information about their HSE email address and initial password on August 28 (after 3 pm). This information will be sent to the email account used when registering for an HSE applicant account. After your first login, it is recommended that you change your password.

What do I do if I don’t receive an email with my HSE email account information?

1. Check your enrollment date. If you enrolled at HSE later than August 27, you will receive your HSE account information in a second mailing that will be sent on August 31.

2. Check your spam folder.

3. Contact your programme office and request a login and password. Note that in order to receive a login and password, you must provide proof of ID.
