339 nominations have been submitted since the beginning of the elections for the student self-governance bodies. HSE Life tells you how these nominations were distributed among faculties, dormitories and other HSE departments.
The Faculty of Social Sciences is the leader in the number of applications for office, with 27 candidates applying for election.
23% of all students of the Faculty of Biology and Biochemistry applied to be elected. This is a lot, not only in percentage terms, but also in absolute terms — more than at the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design.
Dormitory 8 (Trilistnik) was the leader among the dormitories— 21 candidates applied for election.
Only two candidates submitted applications from the Faculty of Physics. So, this year, the student council for this faculty will not be formed.
Dormitories 4 and 5 set a new record for lowest number of applications – there was only 1 nomination from each dorm. This means the Student Council in these dormitories won’t be formed this year (as in all previous years).
Two people will compete for the position of student ombudsman (each of them, as in the US presidential election, has a candidate for their deputy).
The Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technology, which was launched at HSE University last year, will also have its own student council — with students choosing three representatives.
Finally, this year the Doctoral Student Council, which was announced back in 2019, will become part of the HSE University self-governance structure. Those elected to it will represent the interests of the entire HSE doctoral student community, which can’t currently be effectively managed by the Student Council. Doctoral students will choose their representatives from 10 nominees.
