The number of coronavirus cases continues to climb both in Moscow and at the University (in a three week period, the number of cases at HSE University rose from 125 to 252). With this in mind, the COVID Task Force of HSE University has decided to introduce a number of restrictions.

Classes and Extracurricular Activities

As decided by the Task Force, academic activities (both classes and examinations) will take place as planned, but deans of faculties may decide to move them online if necessary.

All other non-academic activities during the week of June 14-20 will be moved online, postponed or cancelled (even if they were scheduled in advance). Organisers of events scheduled after June 20 are already being advised to give preference to an online format now.

The decision also applies to the graduation ceremonies that were due to take place at the Cultural Centre from June 15. Graduation ceremonies scheduled for next week will be postponed; further decisions will depend on the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Moscow.

Access to Buildings

HSE University’s buildings remain open for students. Libraries, canteens and gyms will continue to operate as usual. Coronavirus vaccinations scheduled for June 15, 17, 18 and 21 will take place.

Dormitories

Due to an wider spread of COVID in the HSE University dormitories, it has been decided to reinstate access restrictions: only students residing in a particular building may enter it.

The work of University Staff

University employees are advised to return to working from home (WFH) mode as much as possible. Heads of departments should draw up a list of employees required to transition to WFH, send it to the HR Office, and inform their staff of the change in the nature of their work. Those employees whose presence at their workplace is essential for the normal functioning of the University will continue in their usual place of work.
