Last week HSE University held the Bone Marrow Donor Days event. Students, staff, and guests of HSE University had the opportunity to donate blood and sign up to the Federal Marrow Donor Register.

A total of 101 HSE students became potential bone marrow donors. Their personal data was entered into the Federal Marrow Donor Register, and if their phenotype fits that of a particular patient, they will be able to donate bone marrow.

As part of the event, a visiting team from the Federal Medical and Biological Agency's Blood Centre organised a blood drive to replenish the regional blood bank, with 50 people donating blood.

Donor Day visitors could attend a lecture, an art therapy session, a mug painting workshop, a donor mail event, a quest, and a yoga class.

HSE students and employees who wish to join the Federal Marrow Donor Register can donate blood for HLA typing at the donation department of the National Medical Research Centre of Hematology at 4 Novy Zykovsky Proezd, Moscow. It is also possible to join the Register via the Gosuslugi state services portal.
