HSE University is creating a project committee to improve the university environment. Now, students can get involved in discussing solutions on how to develop HSE spaces. The project will include an equal number of students and representatives of the university administration. The same model is already used by the Dormitory Committee. Those interested in taking part in the project must submit a request here (site in Russian) and solve a case by April 3.
The main purpose of creating project committees is to include students in discussions about solutions that directly affect their lives at the university. Last year, students had the opportunity to take part in dormitory management for the first time—deciding what needs to be refurbished first, proposing ideas to make dormitories more comfortable, and creating design projects. The Student Council has often raised the issue of how to make the university more comfortable for students. The council regularly receives requests from students to renovate classrooms and buildings to include additional wall sockets, water coolers, bins, and leisure areas. Such decisions will now be made by the project committee.
‘We value our students’ interest in the development of the university and continue our joint project work. The model of the Dormitory Committee proved to be highly effective, and now this operating format will be adopted for university spaces. The team of the project committee to improve the university space comprises an equal number of members of the Student Council and active students who have passed the open selection process. This is an opportunity for students to gain unique management experience of working with the university’s experts. These future professionals in the fields of design, spatial planning, and architecture will be able to fill their portfolio with real projects that improve our university,’ explains HSE University Vice Rector Dmitry Zemtsov.
Those looking to join the committee team must submit an application and solve one of the five cases presented.
Applicants must submit their application and solve one of the cases by 8 am on April 3. The results of the selection process will be announced on April 4.
