Art, Sport, and Soap Bubbles at Pokrovka

Children’s Day at HSE University

Daniil Prokofiev // HSE University

On June 1, the HSE University building on Pokrovka hosted a children’s art exhibition in honour of Children’s Day, an occasion celebrated widely in Russia and a number of other countries. About 200 children and grandchildren of HSE University staff took part in the event.

The children showed off their drawings and origami, as well as creations made from plasticine, paper, and whatever other materials they had to hand. After the exhibition, the guests enjoyed a lively and fun programme organised by the university’s Office of Staff and Student Benefits.

The exhibition was followed by a colourful soap-bubble show in the central atrium, where the children could catch and pop bubbles—and even end up inside a huge pearlescent bubble themselves.

Later, the dance hall of the Cultural Centre hosted a children’s sporting class courtesy of the XFIT fitness club network, a partner of HSE University. It was an active start to the summer for the participants, creating a positive atmosphere and giving them a chance to learn more about where their family members work.

The children also received mementos: drawing albums, pencils, books, branded tote bags and certificates of participation.

The HSE University buildings on Pokrovka and Staraya Basmannaya have playrooms for the children of staff and students. Children between the ages of 3 and 12 can stay there for several hours under the supervision of an administrator. The rooms have soft playsets, chalkboards, and screens for watching cartoons. To visit a playroom, please book a date and time in advance through your MyHSE services account.
