Registration for Electives Opens on June 10

Students can choose courses, groups and timetables for the first semester of the 2024/25 academic year until June 20

© HSE University

All students must participate in the course selection campaign to create an individual study plan for the upcoming academic period.

What to Choose

  • All students choose elective major courses, and students entering the 2nd and 3rd years also select their minor schedules.
  • Students entering the 2nd and final years of bachelor's and specialist programmes choose English language courses.
  • Master's students choose MagoLego.

Students choose courses in the SmartWay system, which suggests a personalised selection of courses.

Stages of Selection Campaign

Preparation for Selection (June 10, 10:50 AMJune 11, 10:00 AM Moscow Time)

In the preview mode, you can familiarise yourself with the list of available courses, their schedules, implementation details, and check the availability and selection criteria.

Course Selection (June 11, 10:50 AM—11:59 PM Moscow Time)

Submit applications for courses, including those with preliminary selection.

Schedule Selection (June 20, 10:50 AM—11:59 PM Moscow Time)

You need to choose the study groups for all types of classes provided for the course: lectures, seminars, and practical classes. If there are no available slots for one type of class, you cannot take that course and must choose another. Make sure you have selected study groups for each course included in your individual study plan and chosen in the first wave of the campaign.

What a Completed Selection Looks Like

You have secured spots in the lectures, seminars, and practical classes (if applicable) for the courses you plan to include in your study plan.

If you do not make your selection or do not complete it by choosing a schedule, you agree to be assigned to whatever courses remain availabe. After the campaign ends, your study office will only offer courses with remaining open slots.

The full campaign timeline and instructions for using the SmartWay system are availablehere.

Degree programmes can significantly differ in their elective parts. Your study office will inform you on the details of your programme's selection via email by June 11, 2024.

For technical questions, use the ‘Contact Technical Support’ button in SmartWay.
